THEY TAKE EVERY ADVANTAGE TO STEAL MONEY FROM YOU.

I have rented a car to go skiing and I was forced to add the snow chains as required by the French Law. I was told: "do not worry, if you do not use the snow chains you will not pay for them".

I did not use the snow chains (it did not snow), I drop off my car and I was told "All is OK sir, you can go".

After 1 week I see a charge on my credit card for 110 EUROS. After checking with the customer service the charge was for the snow chains!

I have tried to discuss this with them but they said: "it was on the contract sir, you have to pay for it."

So basically they take advantage of the French law to charge for snow tyres or snow chains. Usually when there is a law in place is responsibility of the rental company to give a car that is lawful.

Anyway, unfortunately reading these comments I am not the first one.

I am now taking this legally because I am fed up with multinational companies taking advantage of private consumers.

Had a Christmas trip to the French Alps, booked and paid for the car online, only to be disappointed upon collecting the car and being charged another 100+ EUR for winter tires. It doesn’t make sense to me; it was the end of December, clearly winter time, but they charged me anyway. Moreover, the car was located in a different place than they had advised me, so I had to walk around searching for it. Will avoid them in the future.

Do not hire a car from Budget at Grenoble airport!!!
They seem to be running a scam for added extras you only notice on your final receipt. I booked a Budget car via Expedia for Grenoble Airport. I did not select the car insurance option. Expedia and Budget then kept sending me emaiIs about taking out insurance, once more I continued to not want to do so as I had sourced my own insurance.
When we got to Grenoble and were in the process of picking up the car I was once again asked if I wanted insurance, I again answered no and showed the person a copy of my insurance documents. We did hire car chains.
When it came to payment I was concerned it was so high, over £600, and was told it was because of the deposit and the extra show chain hire and that I would get the deposit back. At no time was car insurance mentioned here but the optional snow chains were. Strange that.
After receiving the final receipt it showed me I had paid for car insurance and snow chains, a price that almost doubled the hire charge. I did not ask for the insurance but was charged anyway!
I called Budget UK and was told I had signed a contract so tough luck.
Do not hire a car from here!!!!!

The worst rental experience I have ever come across. These people are, in my view, fraudulent. After collecting the car I received an invoice detailing 300 euros extra taken from my account due to alleged upgrades, snow tyres, automatic transmission, etc, none of which I had agreed to. The car was actually much smaller than the one booked. On return they accepted it back no problem but I then received an invoice again charging me 00s of euros extra for alleged damage. Fortunately I had taken photos on collection of the car so could prove the damage was pre existing. Budget have refunded me in full but the hassle has been awful. What a way to treat honest customers on a family holiday! Disgusting.

Total crooks,
Hardly speak english, so ripping you off is a lot easier.
When picking up the car, they said winter tires were not included, but required.
No where in the booking was there an option to include them, so I assumed they were included..
So now I had to rent them for the premium price, ok..
After returning the car, an extra fee was charged stating I "chose" for a higher class car..which I never did, nor signed for (only the winter tires).
So instead of 285euro for one week I now paid 550....

DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY. We arrived 4th Feb we were 2nd in the queue, it took over an hour for both of the incompetent staff to serve the people in front of us. I felt sorry for the 5 families behind us. Then came the usual snow tyre scam. The car had a bad vibration over 60km/hour, but if I'd taken it back I'd be back in the incompetent queue. DO NOT HIRE FROM BUDGET CAR HIRE GRENOBLE AIRPORT

Worst car hire experience
My holiday has been ruined with this.
The car I hired broke down 3 time with a dead battery I got stuck I ended up having to take the car myself to the garage
The assistance person on the telephone were very unhelpful and did not want to help
They actually suggested that I drove back 3 hours back to the hire agency to swap the car

I will never rent from this company ever again
